Meet Our Philanthropy Staff.
Denise Pope, CFRE
Executive Vice President/Chief Philanthropy Officer
Denise joined Tidewell in January 2010. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for Tidewell’s philanthropy and marketing/communications programs. Denise has more than 18 years of philanthropy, marketing and public relations experience. Prior to joining Tidewell, she served St. John’s Hospital and St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill. as Chief Development Officer for the Friends of St. John’s Hospital Foundation. Denise holds a B.A. in Public Relations from Western Kentucky University and an M.A. in Communication from University of Illinois, Springfield. She has received additional intensive training in major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving and fund raising management through the Madison Institute, a program of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the University of Wisconsin. Aida Matic, CFRE
Director of Philanthropy
Aida joined Tidewell in January 2009. Her areas of responsibility include annual giving programs, grant writing and other initiatives to increase private support. Prior to coming to Tidewell, she was the Development Director of the Anna Maria Island Community Center for four years. Her previous experience is in book publishing, journalism and managing the Newspaper in Education Program’s special events and grant writing endeavors. In addition, she was the Director of Operations for an animal welfare organization. Originally from Germany, Aida came to the U.S. in 1997 and has lived in Florida since 2004. She has a degree in American Studies from the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich and advanced studies in Market Psychology and Civic Law. Email Aida at amatic@tidewell.org
Jane Freitas
Database Administrator Supervisor
Jane joined Tidewell in May 2011. She is responsible for managing the organization’s constituent database and performs regular data analysis, using those statistics to assist in evaluating current program performance and make recommendations for improvement. Jane has more than 19 years of experience in the hospitality, technology and benefits administration industries. She holds a bachelor's degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from University of Missouri-Columbia. Jane lives with her husband, Lou, and their cat Marley on six peaceful acres in eastern Sarasota County. Email Jane at Jfreitas@tidewell.org
Debbie Frey
Data Analyst
Debbie joined the Philanthropy Department in February 2001. She is responsible for database development, maintenance and report generation, as well as the receipt and acknowledgement of charitable contributions. Email Debbie at dfrey@tidewell.org
Marjorie Badger
Data Entry Specialist
Marjorie joined Tidewell in March 2009. She is responsible for data entry with regards to Philanthropic records and gifts. Her career of more than 40 years includes: dietetics (Ohio and New York State), facility management for an opera house and several convention centers, as well as property management, and estimating responsibilities for commercial real estate. Marjorie and her husband, Tom, moved to Sarasota in 2003 from Rochester, N.Y. They have five children and 11 grandchildren. Email Marjorie at mbadger@tidewell.org
Barbara Ross
Executive Assistant
Barb joined Tidewell in December 2010. She is responsible for providing administrative support to the EVP/Chief Philanthropy Officer. Barb also serves as the primary contact for all non-monetary donations and facilitates third party special events. Prior to joining Tidewell, she worked for Deutsche Bank, Capital District YMCA and Bank of America. Barb attended California State University, Fresno on a volleyball scholarship and graduated with a B.A. in Journalism. Email Barb at bross@tidewell.org
