Or perhaps your connection came after a sudden or unexpected loss, when you found strength through one of Tidewell's free grief support groups. However the link was made, you understand the incredible difference Tidewell makes in the lives of so many families in your community when they are facing their most challenging days.

That's where your charitable donations have an impact. Tidewell provides its services to all in need, regardless of financial capabilities, and relies on your gifts to fill this gap while it focuses on quality of life issues rather than economic considerations.

All donations to Tidewell are used within its four-county service area to support the needs of local families. As your local, not-for-profit hospice since 1980, Tidewell is committed to respecting your wishes when you decide to make a difference in the lives of those living with advanced illness. We diligently control the costs of fund raising so that your gift can be used where it's needed - in support of our patients and their loved ones.

In 2010, 88 cents of every dollar donated was used to cover the direct costs of patient care. Tidewell provided $3.98-million in unreimbursed services, including $2.3-million in charity care for needy patients who otherwise would have been unable to afford services. More than 8,000 individual grief counseling sessions and 1,300 support groups, valued at more than $1-million, were also conducted, with funding thanks in large part to philanthropic donations.
