TIDEWELL HONORS PHILANTHROPIST ALICE RAU
On Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, Tidewell Hospice held its inaugural Compassion In Caring Award luncheon, honoring Alice Rau, whose contributions to the community echo the example set by Dame Cicely Saunders, recognized founder of the modern hospice movement.
Known for her support of The Ringling Museum of Art, New College Library Association and The Hospice Foundation of Southwest Florida, Ms. Rau has been as committed to our community as she has been to her successful career. An active volunteer and philanthropist supporting many charitable organizations, she gives of herself to help others.
Ms. Rau was recognized for her outstanding commitment to Tidewell's mission. In telling her story, Tidewell's story is also shared - hopefully inspiring others to live and demonstrate Compassion in Caring.
Established in 1980 as Hospice of Sarasota County, Tidewell is committed to serving people who are living with advanced illness. While its scope and services have expanded in response to community need, Tidewell's commitment to compassion in caring remains the foundation.
